The Sky Creator Awards: Submissions Now Open!

Sky’s 6th Anniversary is just around the corner, and this year we’re shining a spotlight on YOU, our creative community. From cozy Shared Spaces and unforgettable livestreams to jaw-dropping crafts, your creations have lit up the skies, our timelines, and our hearts.

As part of our anniversary celebration, we’re excited to introduce the first-ever Sky Creator Awards to honor creators who share their talent and passion with the Sky community!

Starting today, we’re officially accepting submissions across a range of categories, and we encourage all creators to participate!

Prizes & Winner Selection:

Winners will be selected by thatgamecompany staff and will be announced in August at the Sky Creator Awards held during Sky’s 6th Anniversary celebration. Five nominees from each category will receive a prize bundle, and one winning entry from each category, plus two all-around winners (10 total), will receive a grand prize bundle.

Categories You Can Submit To:

  • Sky Scapes: For all the photographers, Shared Space creators, and Nest designers.

  • Music: Calling all musicians, from all those jamming in Prairie Peaks to duet performers in the Duets Concert Hall and everywhere in between!

  • Storytelling: For the playwrights, role-players, and those bringing Sky’s stories to life.

  • Gameplay: Got a funny or thrilling Sky moment? Show us your best gameplay.

  • Illustration: Artists, it’s time to shine—whether it’s a drawing, comic, or digitally animated piece.

  • Livestream: For those who capture live moments, share your best-of compilations, or simply a great stream clip.

  • Cosplay: Dress up as your favorite Sky characters and show your creativity!

  • Crafts: For the crafters who make everything from props to crochet creations—no skill level required, just passion and effort!

How to Enter:

  1. Read the terms and rules carefully: Make sure you’ve read and fully understand the rules below and the terms listed on the submission page.

  2. Fill in the pre-submission details: Be ready to share some identification information that we will need to track your submissions and contact you if needed.

  3. Submit your content: Upload your files directly using the link below. Please keep file type and resolution details in mind.

The fine print 

  • All entries must be original works created by the person submitting them.

  • Entries must be family-friendly and adhere to a PG rating.

  • Only one entry per category will be accepted (feel free to submit in multiple categories).

  • Video files must be 60 seconds or less.

  • File size cannot exceed 1024MB.

  • Entries are final—once submitted, they cannot be edited or retracted.

  • By submitting, you grant thatgamecompany permission to share your content across media platforms and in-game with full credit to you, the creator.

FAQs

  1. Can I enter with an existing creation?

    • Yes, you can submit existing creations. Both new and existing content are acceptable. 

  2. Can I add music to a submission?

    • Yes, you can add any music to your submission. 

  3. For song submissions, can they be longer than 60 seconds that are within the MB limit?

    • No, all submissions must be both 60 seconds or less AND should not exceed 1024 MB. 

  4. Am I able to submit the same project into different categories? 

    • Yes, if you feel your creation could fit under multiple categories you can submit it to more than one category. Each entry will be evaluated based on the guidelines of the category it has been entered to.

  5. Does in-game cosplay count? 

    • There is nothing in the cosplay rules that stipulates that cosplay is only valid if done irl.

  6. Can the Sky photography be edited?

    • Yes, edits to photography are acceptable.

  7. Can I feature multiple crafts/photos/clips in one entry? 

    • Yes, compilations and entries that feature multiple creations are acceptable. Compilations will be counted as 1 entry and do not increase your chances of winning. 

  8. Do entries have to be in English?

    • No, entries do not have to be in English. 

  9. Are joint creations allowed?

    • Yes, joint creations are allowed, but the creation can only be submitted 1 time by 1 person. Only the person who SUBMITTED the content will receive the prize. 

  10. Can I submit a video of my real self playing any music?

    • Music entries should include in-game footage and/or use of instrument UI.

  11. I noticed different regions have unique submission links. Can I enter through multiple region links? 

    • No. Each category is only open for 1 entry per person, regardless of region, or link used to enter. The regional links were created to provided translated information for participation but all entries go into the same pool for selection.

  12. What counts as “IP Collaborations”?

    • Please avoid using any and all IP collab items, maps, spirits, or anything that would make the IP clearly identifiable. This applied for every category.

  13. Are emotes from IP Collaborations ok to use?

    • Yes, all emotes are OK to use except the AURORA dance emote.

  14. Are only people who submit to all 8 categories qualified for the chance of being an all-around winner?

    • No. Entry in all categories is not required to qualify for the all-around winner.

  15. Can submissions be in other file formats?

    • Submissions should be visual in nature and files should be .mp4 or .mov for video and .jpg or .png for static.

  16. Can I feature oob or easter eggs in my submissions?

    • The Sky Creator Awards involve all Sky players across the world. We encourage the entries that other players can sympathize with and follow through, no matter how old or new they are to Sky. In that sense, we do not recommend featuring a gameplay that may be inaccessible to some.
